Yamaha’s intelligent SMT machines and associated QA Option software with Mobile Judgement support closed-loop feedback of AOI NG data in real-time. In this case the line becomes capable of pinpointing errors and defects as their consequences arise.

This helps to improve quality control and can serve to focus operators’ attention on maintaining consistently high production quality. The associated reduction in demand for rework, reduction in numbers of scrap units and components, and increased post-reflow AOI pass rate contribute to lowering overall per-unit assembly costs.

In addition, the software’s long-term analysis capabilities enable manufacturers to schedule repairs or adjustments during routine stoppages such as product changeovers.

To conclude, we can say that closed-loop feedback of post-mounting AOI results enables manufacturers to achieve measurable improvements in both quality control and productivity.
